Generate MLM Leads or Call your Friends: A Simple Choice

If you\'ve spent some time in MLM, you probably have been told to make a list. I heard one upline guru say to just go through the yellow pages. For every new category, just ask yourself, \"who do I know who is a,\" and then fill in the blank with the category, like plumber, accountant, or funeral pre-arrangement planner.

No doubt you can make a great list with this method.

Unfortunately, most people end up like I did the first time I made a list. I had a great list of people from high school, your neighborhood, and all your extended family that you haven\'t seen in forever anyway. Maybe a few from further back , like my kindergarten class. The people who, when you call, wonder if you will try to sell them something.

One of the great things about using more sound business principles, you leave behind the list when you generate MLM leads.

The Infamous List
Too often, that list gets in the way more than it helps your network marketing business. A list like that can help you get off the ground and train you to understand the business, both good things. But when it comes to real marketing, you need to generate MLM leads faster.

One more thing about your list of 800 close friends. Some successful people in MLM claim you are giving your friends a chance at a better life. You should do this with everyone, all the time. I disagree.

Too often, misguided MLM newbies will just keep calling the same people. Or, you might be familiar with that one guy who asks you every time he sees you if you have changed your mind.

When you generate MLM leads regularly, you don\'t have to worry about these problems. If someone says no, you just move on. And believe it or not, most people you know won\'t want to work in your business. If you don\'t have more leads, you will feel stuck unless you generate those leads another way.

Here are some ideas about how this can help your business.

Picture a line of people
You are at the end shaking hands and asking each person if they are interested in your opportunity. It\'s a very long line. You may take years to finish. Or you could try this: you see the line of people and you stand where they can see you. You talk to all of them at once. You ask them to raise their hand if they are interested. It\'s much faster and saves you the effort.

That\'s what the net can do for you, if you do it right.

When a lead finds you, and decides to get more information, you won\'t have to talk to her right away. You can wait until she has signed up on your site.

The Benefit of Regular Effort
Sometimes you might want to get everything over at once; I know I do. But in some cases, we just can\'t. We need to pace ourselves for many reasons. Maybe you need more time at work. Or you have a very busy home life and you constantly travel or have to care for your parents. I understand. I have a family, responsibilities, and can\'t always get away to go to meetings or do other work.

I found something out over the past year. By doing a something here and there, regularly working, I found I don\'t have to do everything at once. A little goes a long way. But I do have to do it right.

In my case, I\'m talking about using the net. By building a good site that draws visitors every day, I can work some each day or week, and create a resource for others in my industry, or in a particular field, like health and wellness. Every time I add to the site, the resource improves, and more visitors get some help.

With a growing site, adding pages regularly, I can generate MLM leads as well. People can visit the site and if they want to work with me, they will submit their info through my site.

Over time, the additions I make to my site add up, and my traffic increases. My site can present all day, around the clock, while I am working on other things. While I am busy, the site presents for me and will generate leads as long as I maintain it.

Some people may want you to give up all your spare time, your evenings, every weekend. That may not work for you, so start by doing a little here & there. This is how I do it, and it works.

Compared to the List

Working this way, instead of using the list, you don\'t have to worry as much about your business. Your business can build over time, instead of withering as you run out of people to talk to about it.

In the long run, successful businesses draw customers and partners to them. Advertising, yes, but going person to person, not usually. Working in this fashion puts you on more equal footing with them.

Good luck!
