The first fact that you need to know when it comes to gambling is a fact that most people are aware of, even if only on a subconscious level, but nevertheless try to work around for one reason or another. That fact is that there is absolutely no way for you to win over the long run playing any of the casino games with the possible exception of blackjack should you decide to play it in a way that involves card counting. Aside from that one very special exception however, casino games are stacked in the favor of the house. No matter how well you play, the long run is going to see a loss on your side and a win on the side of the casino. For that reason, any gambling strategy you come up with when you are playing a game against the house should be a strategy that aims to win big over the short term.

Another gambling strategy fact that is important to understand is that playing perfect strategy is the easiest way to get any gambling strategy to work. For the most part, perfect strategy has very little to do with the amount you bet, but rather how you play. Playing perfect strategy in blackjack will create a house edge of less than 1% in most cases whereas playing poor strategy can take that same house edge and increase it out to over 50%. If you were to come up with a betting strategy designed to win in the short term, would not it be better to have a 1% house edge than a 50% house edge? If you had the latter, there would essentially be a 1 in 2 chance that you would lose money regardless of what you did. With the 1% edge however, you have a larger period of time during which you can make your strategy work before the overall statistics of the game eventually turn against you.

Finally, one last gambling strategy fact that is worth mentioning is that there are some players that have great strategy in terms of winning in the short term, but end up losing anyway because they do not give it enough time. Winning in the short term does not mean just a few hands or spins. People that have strategies that would otherwise work nicely for them end up losing a lot of money because they end up quitting too early when they are winning and because they end up quitting too late when they are losing. This is a terrible strategy to fall into and because of that it is a good idea to set up a general rule of thumb so that you keep your sessions constant. An example might be at a roulette table, plan on playing your strategy for 35 spins regardless of how you fare.
