After finishing the 2008 season with a 5-11 record, the Jacksonville Jaguars were ready to make some big changes during the offseason. That shakeup started with the coaching staff and front office and has now started to trickle down to the roster. Following the release of wide receiver Jerry Porter and cornerback Drayton Florence, the Jaguars cut 11-year veteran running back Fred Taylor.

The Jaguars reportedly gave Taylor the option to either retire or be released, and he chose to be released. The decision doesn\'t come as much of a surprise considering that the Jaguars have top running back Maurice Jones-Drew and Taylor was set to make around $6 million next season. Fans can show their support for the new lineup with Jacksonville Jaguars tickets.

Taylor was a standout for the University of Florida during the 1990s. His time there led to him being selected in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the ninth overall pick. He is the highest drafted running back every by the Jaguars. That first year, he started 12 out of the 15 games he played in, tallying 1,223 total rushing yards and 13 touchdowns as well as 421 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. Since then, he has only had four seasons under 1,000 rushing yards. His first season was his best for total touchdowns, but he amassed the most yards during the 2003 season when he had 1,572 total rushing yards and six touchdowns.

During the 2008 season, he started 13 out of the 13 games he played, tallying 556 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Although Jones-Drew only started three games, he played in all 16 and had 824 yards and 12 touchdowns. Taylor will likely be looking for a starting position with another team.

Porter was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 2000 after spending his college years with West Virginia. He didn\'t see much playing time his first two years and only started one game. In 2002, he started in 14 out of the 16 games he played in, tallying 668 yards receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He had similar stars in the 2004 season, starting every game for a total of 998 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

He had a tough time personally with the Raiders, eventually finding himself suspended during the 2006 season for comments he had made. Porter came to the Jaguars during the 2008 season and after pushing through an injury had 11 receptions for 181 yards and one touchdown.

Drayton Florence has also only been with the Jaguars for the 2008 season. He was a standout at Tuskegee and was picked in the second round by the San Diego Chargers. He played in every game his first season, but started none, finishing with 20 tackles and two passes defended. He had worked his way to starting in 2005, starting 12 out of the 13 games he played in and tallying 54 tackles, 10 passes defended and one interception. The next year, he started every game and had 66 tackles, 13 passes defended and three interceptions. This last year with the Jaguars, he started eight out of the 15 games he played in and had 36 tackles and three passes defended.
