2001 wasn't all that long ago but blast forward to current times and you can see how far the Honda Fit has come. The 2009 Honda Fit is unique in its own right and for very good reason. Sometimes listed as the Honda Jazz in other parts of the world, Honda has named it the Fit in China, Japan and America. It is an innovative model that is part of Honda's Global Small Car Platform and because of this is classified as a subcompact.

Honda's entry-level model is listed with an eye catching 27 miles per gallon highway rating. Impressive! Only in it's second generation, the Fit is pushing to the front of the pack and now faster then ever with it's all new look and feel. We sense other models are fast becoming jealous.

In 2008, the Fit seemed to be generating buzz everywhere online. Car enthusiasts and subcompact shoppers alike were eager for the unveiling of this much anticipated model. Well, we waited and we were given everything we had hoped for.

The interior has been expanded for comfort and the engine was given new life by adding on just a little more power. Also new for 2009 was a longer and wider body, but no one is complaining.

Those that once felt cramped in the back seat can now enjoy added leg room to relax. The same trick features can still be found however, like the ability to move the rear seating to that of a cargo type area.

Just as the 2008 model had, the 2009 still comes with a 1. 5 liter 4 cylinder engine. The difference in 2009 was the improvement to the iVTEC valve timing system in order to slightly increase the vehicles fuel efficiency. Though not a big increase, the effort has been duly noted. After all, 27 miles per gallon isn't that bad!

Safety features on the 2009 Honda Fit are much the same as you would find in any new vehicle these days. Standard models come equipped with an antilocking brake system, both front and side curtain airbags as well as front head restraints. The Sport model has an optional stability control system but comes bundled with the navigation package option.

Overall, this new model Honda Fit has rated very well. Evaluations and test drives of the vehicle have been extremely positive with very little disappointment. Some are looking for increased horsepower in up coming models but seem to be content with what Honda is offering at the moment. If your in the market for a fuel efficient small car then the Honda Fit is worth some looking in to.
