It all started in Gran Canaria. A winter holiday in the sun, with beach and sea, in 25-30 ° C, it must be winter. We cannot recommend the Aparthotel Escorial ... only German guests, only twice a week fresh bread for breakfast and only sun until 4 pm in the afternoon. Highly recommended, we can Buenaventura Hotel in Playa del Inglés, with  1,400 beds it’s very large, but it also offers a wide range of different foods at the buffet.

During the day the first load of fine beach, which is in the direction of Maspalomas sand dunes in the form of the ever-expanding, for sun bathing. At the beach promenade, which, however, is actually not correct, one can spend his money, or the "right" Promenade quite far from Playa del Inglés San A (u) Gustin stroll. For example, shopping for Electrical articles is above all the CITA is very good, because there are many Moroccans, one must strongly herunterhandeln!

In Maspalomas is in contrast to Playa del Ingles outside the season pretty much dead trousers. This is probably because the audience there either newlyweds with children "or" over 50 "is. There has been relative calm in other words. While there is near the beach a few luxury hotels, but also have the corresponding prices. But as I said, there should be no more than party people just get lost and then quickly returned to Playa del Ingles return.

Also, the entertainment comes in Playa del Ingles is not too short. Until the Kasbah are just 200 m and thus to the disco-pubs, where the whole year is something going on. The best atmosphere was in no doubt that winters in the garage and in PACHA. There are more shopping centers in which the mail off at night, eg CITA and JUMBO, which we have not visited, however, because they do a few meters away.

The first well-known tourist destination in the east is the second tourist center of the Island: Puerto Rico. From there it goes into the interior first in the picturesque mountain village Mogán and then continue along the Serpenti until sometime San Nicolás de Tolentino achieved. Who can find the way now in the direction of the center island and pass on some Trinkwassertalsperren come until sometime in Tejeda encounters.

You can also further north in the direction of travel and Puerto de las Nieves stop, where the famous "Dedo del Dios", the finger of God can see. This rock rises slightly off the coast from the water. (Addendum: The finger of God is now canceled, and is well into the sea). On the other drive, you can then visit the island's north and goes to visit the north coast of the best on the highway from Las Palmas from back in the south. We already have our first vacation in a tour through the center of the island. Towards Fataga has about 7 km after a great view of the gorge or from Fataga.

Also back there is a beautiful sight in the direction of Playa del Inglés, but we were unfortunately not the best view. The ride went on Fataga and San Bartolomé de Tirajana next to the picturesque mountain village of Tejeda.

On the five kilometers away Paßhöhe Cruz de Tejeda has a beautiful view over the north of the island. There you can decide whether to continue towards the north, west, or back and Roque Nublo or high on the Pozo de las Nieves goes. This is consistent with 1.949m the highest mountain on the island.

Those who drove to the west, looks a little luck suddenly in front of the Pico del Teide on Tenerife, which can then virtually from the interior of the island from the previously described Tour San Nicolás to the sea.

On a rainy day, we are then also once the barrier of Soria mileage. Their vision is for sunshine certainly much more interesting, and even the slippery and muddy road that led there, dry weather is likely to be more passable.

The Palmitos Park is a popular destination in the vicinity of Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas, with its never walk away you should try. We have a 3:15 p.m. needed. If we had even before that time in the guide compatriots, then we would be the distance from 12 to 15 km from Playa del Inglés struck out safely. So rather take the bus, which then leaves everywhere. Incidentally, the hotel was Escorial, which we booked in December 1996 had not a hammer. Sun at the pool to a maximum of 16 clock, then came the shadow of the neighboring hotels. The food was quite monotonous and not so great. Anyway, it seemed there were only German tourists to enter, that was a bit boring.

Conclusion: Gran Canaria is always worth a trip, be it because of the pleasant climate, due to the interesting landscape and the vibrant capital of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, or because of, not just beautiful but perfectly touristically scale resorts with lots of nightlife and of course because of the beautiful beaches.
